The legendary Flora-Bama Mullet Toss has be chronicled by the New York Times, The Washington Post, and hundreds of other news outlets. It has even been a question on Jeopardy! So how did it start? Pat McClellan, one of the Flora-Bama owners, and his friend Jimmy Louis would have to be given most of the credit. As Pat said " We wanted to do something fun that would involve the community while drawing people from around the southeast. We wanted something that would be our own little beach party. We didn't expect this."
Now that "Little Beach Party" has turned into a three day festival each spring that draws thousands of people from around the nation. There is also much more than tossing mullet. There are numerous bands performing on one of the many stages at the Flora-Bama. There is fresh seafood being served at one of the three Flora-Bama restaurants. Most of all there are memories being made at one of the south's largest beach party each year.
